Hybrid Bike FAQ’s

That’s different for everyone so we spend a few minutes chatting with our customers who often come into the shop and say they don’t know what they’re looking for. They just want a “regular” bike. We ask many questions; like, where they would like to ride the bike. This may seem like a strange question, but it’s actually super important to know. For example, if the customer says they want to go to Tahoe and ride the trails, then we would show the customers our hybrids with a little more traction on the tires and even some front suspension. If the customer says they only want to ride around the block with their children, we’d start off showing the lighter weight hybrids with thinner tires. There are so many options, the more we chat and work with the customers, the better we can do to help them get a bike that’s perfect for them.
The best choice for you will depend upon what you need it for - if you plan on riding for speed, on road and off road - choose a gravel bike. If you intend on simply riding to the shops and on a smaller commute, a hybrid bike will be the best option.
Yes, hybrids are often recommended for beginners due to their stability, comfort and versatility. They provide a good balance between road and mountain bikes, making them an excellent choice for riders who are just starting out.
Each manufacturer has different weight capacities, but typically the brands we carry can accommodate up to 300 lbs. We’re happy to help you select the best bike for your size. If there is a weight concern, there are options to strengthen the bike, such as replacing the stock rims (wheels) with extra durable rims and spokes.
Some hybrids have caliper brakes and some entry level hybrids have mechanical disc brakes. The higher end hybrids have hydraulic disc brakes. Both caliper systems and disc brake systems have excellent stopping power.
Hybrids offer versatility – they can handle a variety of terrains, including paved roads, gravel paths and light trails.

Comfort – hybrid bikes usually have an upright riding position, providing a more comfortable and relaxed ride compared to road bikes.

Durability – Hybrids are built with sturdy frames and wider tires, making them more durable and capable of handling rougher surfaces.

Commuter-friendly – Hybrids often come with features like fenders, baskets and racks, making them great for commuting and carrying loads. We also can add these features to hybrids purchased elsewhere.
We carry several different brands and models with the entry level hybrids starting at around $550. Keep in mind that our prices include free professional assembly and a free tune-up within the first 12 months.
